# update_tag

`tools/call` · `POST /clanker/v1/tags:update`

Rename or recolor a tag. Only the fields given change, and a new name follows onto every ticket and saved view. Returns the tag. Needs write access and the rights create_tag needs for the tag.

- Needs the write grant. Idempotent.

## Inputs

- `tag` (string, required): The tag's ID from list_tags.
- `name` (string): A new name, up to 40 characters.
- `color` (string, one of: `gray`, `red`, `orange`, `amber`, `green`, `teal`, `cobalt`, `iris`, `pink`): The tag's color, such as teal.
